The Sonora Area Foundation has honored Tuolumne Trails as the recipient of the 2018 Irving J. Symons Award. SAF Board members Dana Mayo and Bob Ozbirn presented a $40,000 check to Jerry Baker, founder and chairman of the organization. SAF annually bestows the award on an organization that has a major impact on the community. Baker says, “We at Tuolumne Trails thank the Sonora Area Foundation for their generous and kind donation. This donation will have a significant and dramatic impact on our mission to provide a unique camp experience to special-needs children and adults, veterans, environmental education and myriad organizations. Specifically, we look forward to expanding our scope to include more residents throughout Tuolumne County.” Tuolumne Trails is a camp primarily for individuals with special medical needs. It is situated along 80 acres outside of Groveland.
