Love Tuolumne County
Love Tuolumne County’s mission is to beautify and clean-up the communities in Tuolumne County, through partnering with dozens of organizations with creative ideas of how to improve our community, amazing sponsors such as Sonora Area Foundation, Adventist Health, Front Porch, ARCH Medical Solutions, Word of Life, and other community-minded organizations in our own county, and literally hundreds of Tuolumne County volunteers annually with a common goal of helping make our county a better place to live, work, and enjoy! We are modeled after the Love Modesto / Love Our Cities concept, which eighteen years ago took Modesto from being identified as one of the worst communities in the US to live, to being a community that now works together to enhance life for its residents and visitors.
In the last six years, Love Tuolumne County has gathered more than 1,500 volunteers to complete 125-plus projects throughout the county, and raised more than $138,000 in sponsorships to help subsidize costs for supplies to complete these projects. We have partnered with many schools, community gardens, residential areas, local parks, various trails, and other places in our community that just need a little love to remove weeds, create beauty, repaint, rebuild, and enhance what’s already in place. In 2026, we have been able to take on some larger projects such as partnering with Habitat for Humanity Sonora and The Refuge to transform motels purchased by the county through grant funds into sustainable residences for families and individuals, and partnering with the county to improve Standard Park facilities, fences, add picnic tables, and soon to add shade structures, water fountains, and water bottle fillers. Our goal is consistent – to do whatever we can, to the fullest extent that we can, leaning heavily on our families, friends and neighbors, to remake our corner of the world into a better place.
Our focus has previously been our annual Serve Weekend, the last weekend in April, but we are looking into providing more value throughout the year, with other major volunteer days or weekends, and we hope that many reading this will join us for just a few hours every once-in-a-while. Yes, it’s actually F-U-N!! Our website is www.LoveTuolumneCounty.org, where we accept nominations for projects, offer approved projects for volunteers to sign up to help, and a place for people to donate money to help fund these projects. We then promote these projects on our Facebook page, so that people who follow us know what projects are available when convenient for them, and you have probably seen our yard signs and volunteers throughout the county.
Come join us – these are amazing experiences, many of which are family-oriented, and we offer a free Love Tuolumne T-Shirt to every volunteer!
