Summerville High School serves more than 650 students, and the gym acts as a central meeting place for the whole community. When seating falls behind
modern standards, the problem touches everyone who attends an event. People notice when a public space fails to include neighbors who use wheelchairs, need easier access, or require contortions to retrieve items that fall through.
Local event attendees deserve seating that keep people safe and welcome everyone. Summerville’s indoor bleachers have served well for around sixty years, but time has caught up with them.
Funding is tight in schools, but community giving creates a direct fix.
New seating benefits all
Modern guardrails and handrails make steps feel more secure. Updated aisles make it easier to move without squeezing past others. Code-compliant design reduces congestion in the busiest moments.
Safe, accessible bleachers in our gym are essential for protecting our students, welcoming our community, and supporting the future of Summerville High School.
Families will notice the difference. Integrated wheelchair seating makes attendance feel normal for everyone. Toddlers will have an easier time going up and down, as will adults and students. The gym becomes a shared space again.
New seating will reduce ongoing maintenance costs. The current seating needs more care.
