Project Saluting Freedom

Project Saluting Freedom is the senior project of Summerville High School student, Candace Olsen. She created a fundraising event to help VFW Post 4748 raise money to build a 9/11 Memorial in Tuolumne City. Along with her busy school and co-curricular activity schedule, Candace recruited more than 80 sponsors before her event on February 22nd at the Sonora Opera Hall. She opened a fund at Sonora Area Foundation with the donations for the project and is very near her fundraising goal!

As seen in the photo above, Candace’s story was picked up by Good Day Sacramento and she appeared on its segment justly titled “Doing Good.” We are honored to be partnering with Candace as she succeeds in being a community leader, driven to “do good” for Tuolumne County at such a young age.
